Five, Seven, Five
Folks, you may not know this, but today people all around the world are celebrating a style of poetry that’s been around for centuries! The haiku originated in Japan and poets have invested years of their lives perfecting each syllable, each careful nuance of their haikus.
The simplicity of the haiku structure – three lines, with five syllables, seven syllables, and five again – means authors must be very intentional to be content with the results. That’s why composing haikus is considered meditative for some, and reading them is helpful to others.
When The ASCEND Collective brings in new candidates, our intention is to see them land the career they want, not just a paycheck that gets them by. Our work is deliberate, and so is our choice in who gets this energy: our underserved and often underrepresented communities.
We love building up our justice-involved members of the community, helping military spouses find careers and our military troops transition into the civilian world, and enabling our diversely abled neighbors to land the jobs they deserve… Each of these groups has unique circumstances that we have tools to help navigate.
Your donation creates the opportunity for that mentorship. As a non-profit, we rely on your generosity, your investment to help keep building up the members of these communities.
We aren’t asking you to spend years crafting the perfect words! We’re saying that whether it’s five or seven bucks, or a whole haikus’ worth of kindness, we appreciate what you can give, and we pay it forward every day. Visit theascendcollective.org and donate today. Thank you.
