When you go into a job interview, we often adopt a mentality that we need to sell ourselves in any number of ways: how much we want that job, what we can do for the company, why we want to work there, etc.
Sure, these are important considerations for an employer, but they are far from the whole conversation. At The ASCEND Collective, we believe candidates should be going into a job interview with an understanding that you offer them value too, because the relationship between an employee and an employer is mutually beneficial. Adopting this mentality flips the script on what the ever-dreaded job interview scenario can feel like.
You are interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you! When talking with someone about a position you know you can fill, the conversation can be more about how you will work together, how the company can take care of you so you can do your job well, what benefits are in place to help fuel your success, etc.
These and other fundamentals are vital to demonstrating you aren’t just competent and can do the job, but most importantly, that you’re putting your foot in the door of a place you would want to work at.
If that sounds appealing, you should check out theascendcollective.org for resources on how we can help make this a reality for you!
