The nuances and processes of the justice system are complex, can vary widely from state to state, and even more so when both the state and the federal levels are involved. Understandably, the average employer probably doesn’t have a full grasp on what it means for someone hoping to work with them to have any sort of justice-involved record.
We all have colorful pasts full of joy, grief, and the many challenges of our human experience. Despite being the authors of our stories, there are still many parts of life outside of our control, such as being justice-involved and some of the societal impact that can have.
This is why The ASCEND Collective strives to elevate our justice-involved communities. There are many stereotypes and misunderstandings that can disqualify a capable person from getting a job because some folks simply don’t know what to make of certain histories.
We want to assist our justice-involved community get through those uncertainties by bridging the gap between incarceration and career. We can teach candidates how to navigate job interviews, upskill past and present capabilities, and more – we can help ensure that post-incarceration, there is a fulfilling career that pays the bills.
Our future is unwritten. As the authors of our lives, no past chapter or moment forecasts our entire future. If you or someone you know is justice-involved and seeking to build a career, it’s time to connect with us. Let’s work together and write an incredible story.
